Suffering Hypertension, cheat?, pls advise
Dear all,
I am going to send the application for PR within australia. However I found out that I may have hypertension recently. That could be the only reason for me to fail my application. I would like to ask for any advices that can help my situation.... I am worrying about this for 3 mths, and up until now I still haven't done the medical check, and this is theo nly thing left. I would like to ask, if i start medication to control my BP and go for medical check without telling them I am on medication for HBP, would they be able to chekc it out through my blood test? I know I shouldn't do it as it is cheating... but... WHat would be the best way to overcome this/ thanks for your advices |

I don't think hypertension will cause you to be rejected, it's a very common and easily controlled problem. Susan thanks for your advices |

You have absolutely NO worries there, I can assure you.
My wife suffers the same and she told the doc doing the medical, he said nothing to worry about!. Good luck!. ;) |

Second, do a search through the forum for 'blood pressure' or 'hypertension' you'll find plenty of messages from people in a similar situation who haven't found it to be major obstacle at all. Finally and most importantly, don't hang delay getting the treatment, I don't know how high your BP is but everything else becomes rather irrelevant if you end up getting serious problems from untreated hypertension. Having Hypertension in isolation of heart disease etc. will be unlikely to
cause you to fail a medical. You need to inform them that you are taking medication for this, for how long & what medication it is. You will probably have to get a cardiology report which will show if this has been a long-term uncontrolled problem or not. It's a good idea to speak to the panel doctor before you have your medical and suggest this so that you can bring the report to the medical otherwise you will have 2 trips to the doctor - 2 sets of fees unless he/she is very kind. Don't worry about it - it'll only exacerbate the hypertension. Good luck.
