Does it exist in Australia, can't seem to find it in my local supermarkets.

Of course it exists. You might need to find a good butcher or deli that stocks it. The best you will get in the supermarket is suet pastry mix.

We found regular suet - to make stew dumplings with in Woolworths! coles sells the stuff too

This is a question I wanted to know the answer to as well so thank you for asking it hun.

Another one is can you get chestnuts over there too, like tinned ones or still in their shells to roast??

I can get it from the local supermarkets but can't remember which aisle. Think it may be home baking.

I could only find the dumpling mix in the super market. That is not good enough for me. I went to the butchers and the suet from there smelt disgusting! I made some anyway, just to see, and it tasted just as bad as it smelt! We have since found a british shop which sells Atora. :D

Fresh chestnuts are in the in the fruit and veg section right now and soon roast up a treat on top of a wood burner :thumbup:

Ive got my woodburner blazing.will get some chestnuts at the market tomorrow and try this.kids will love it.

Atora suet is around in the shops,but only the vegetable one not beef.

it does but it can be in stock one week and not the next,

when making dumplings i substitute butter
i put the butter in the freezer and grate it into the flour
works perfectly and makes great dumplings ;)

That reminds me that Himself has requested dumplings this week.

I'm fairly sure he was on about the suet variety.
