Default Suburbs of Wollongong

Hi all,

We are as most sitting and waiting for our little yellow envelope that will change our lives... Whilst we are waiting we are starting to look at possible areas to settle with our 2 children. We have been told to look at Wollongong but we now realise thet it's not quite that easy. Hubby will be working in Sydney so any more than an 1hr 30 train journey will not work. Can anyone point us in the right direction

Thanks

Vickeyvixen

Wollongong (steel city) is at least 2 hours from Sydney. The surrounding area is beautiful and the drive from Sydney is worthwhile. Beachside property down there has rocketed

Try www.131500.com.au for train commute times. What is your budget?

There's some great suburbs between Woolongong and Sydney and I couldn't ever imagine getting tired of the train journey. The beaches are amazing, the communities very friendly with small local shops (butchers, bakers etc) still in place rather than charmless supermarkets. With Sydney so accessable you've every reason to give it a go!!

Try Stanwell (or Stanmore, can't quite remember the name!) Bay for starters. It's close enough to Sydney. I stayed in Thirroul for a while, bit further out but has it's charms. Once fell asleep on the last train from Sydney and had to get a cab from Woolongong!
