Suburbs which one?

Suburbs which one?
Hi Guys once again,
I am interested in real estate,
I go to any online real estate search and it asks me what suburb I want to search for.
I always put "all suburbs" as I have no Idea where they are situated or which ones are the best/ones to aviod.
In blighty I can use Microsoft Autoroute to give me an idea of the relationship of a certain suburb to its surrounds.
In Aus, there seems to be no maps available online.
Is there any such thing as Autoroute Aus Style?
Any Ideas? Please help
