You put your spouse on the visa application, there is a section where you enter all the names of your family that are going with you. She can work but I think for only 20hrs a week

what does 20hrs a week means, 7 days or 5 business days, or 7 days including holidays.

you wife can work unlimited hours once you start your course, if your course is either
students enrolled in Masters by coursework (visa 573)
students enrolled in Masters by research or Doctoral degree (visa 574)
students sponsored by AusAID or Defence (visa 576).

see
http://www.immi.gov.au/students/stud...visa-works.htm

but for yourself you can work only 20 hours during semester and unlimited during semester break.

Im sorry but she can not work unlimited hours.
Conditions of visa are. 20 hours per week. in holidays the student can work unlimited hours, partner can only do 20 hours at all times, they get that as a privilege.
I know this for a fact as my son is on a student visa with his partner.
We have asked about his partner working more hours, but no way will they allow this.

that strange i've been told all along that student partner can work unlimited and also it says on the immi web site. What course's your son doing? is it bachelor or master degree?

no, perz is right....

spouses of MASTERS degree (not bachelor) students (either subclass 573 [masters by coursework] OR 574[masters by research or Doctoral degree]) have unlimited work rights, once the student has started their main course.

Masters degree students have the same work rights as over students - 20hours max when course is in session, unlimited at all other times.

And I believe a week is a calendar week - so the 20 hours would be over 7 days
