We have been looking into this for nearly a year and we would just like some other stories like can we live on 20 hours per week will we find it hard to get a mortgage etc we will have a suitable deposit should that help!!!. If you are set up financially, you will be fine, but only working 20 hours per week is a struggle. And you dont get any assistance.
My son and his partner, struggle on student visa, and they dont have children, I help them out as much as I can.
The cost of living is really no different to the UK, and most of time the wages lower. I would realy look into it, as it can put a real strain on the family.
Wishing you all the best.
Denise

Would you seriously consider trying to purchase real estate when there is no guarantee you will be able to stay?

Also bear in mind FIRB restrictions - http://www.firb.gov.au
