Default Students and 20 hours working

Wonder if anyone can help. This might be a stupid question but here goes!

A student can work 20 hours per week under the terms of their visa.

Say I got a job that was 9-5 which equals 8 hours however, I presume I'd get say an hour for lunch so would that be 7 or 8 hours out of my 20?

Thanks in advance.

Well assuming you are not paid for your lunch (and most jobs you wouldn't be) then yes.
I work 8.30-4.45 with 45 minutes unpaid lunch, but 20 minutes of paid breaks. So I get paid for 7.5, so that is what I count it as. After all, you are not working for your lunch, which is why you are not being paid.

Brilliant! Thank you. It was as thought but I'd hate to get it wrong.
