Student Visa - paying uni fees on credit card
Just a word of warning.
I snail mailed my credit card details to the uni (as requested) for my first semesters fees and when they requested payment my bank refused it even though I was well under my credit limit! It took two weeks for me to find out about this with me sat waiting for my eCOE. When I questioned the bank they said it was standard security procedure with a large payment request from overseas.
If you are in this position I would recommend you contact your bank or card provider to let them know of an upcoming foreign transaction. Save yourself two weeks!!!!

found another student!
Hello Mark or Julie
I've found someone else who's going to study in Oz.
What are you going to study and where are you going?
I'm hoping to study horticulture in Victoria, if i can decide which course to do...it's a minefield.

Hi Mark
I envy you, sounds like you've got it all sorted.
My problem is that i've been told to do a certificate course, which is very basic and practical, but it will give me more points than doing a diploma or bachelor(as i am a gardener).
Just wondering how long it took you to get your visa.
Is your aim to stay out there?
Good luck

Haven't actually got our visas yet. You can't apply more than 12 weeks before your course starts. Pay part of your course fees upfront and they send you a confirmation of enrolment which you then send to London with your visa application and your passports and evrything comes back within 4 weeks (so I'm told)!
We are intending to stay in Aus on a permanent visa on completion of my course.
Cheers,
Mark
