Student visa into pemanent residency...
Hi,
We are slowly but surely moving towards our visa. My wife has had to re-train and in doing that has had to study for an OU Degree, doing three years of study that should've been done in six years! She is looking to apply for a Skilled visa as a Librarian.
Now the youngest is off to school in Spetember, she is looking for a part-time job to get 12 months work experience, post-qualification. This should be enough, with sponsorship, for us to get to settle.
However, we are impatient, and have a friend who has just left on a student visa. Her husband is studying for an Oz qualification and on the strength of that, they are hoping to apply for residency post qualification.
How realistic is that? We could sell up and live off our equitiy for a year if my
wife got a Senior Librarian qualification in Oz. We'd just have to be self-supporting for a year or so. We'd gladly do this though if it would be likely that we could become residents afterwards.
Any feedback gratefully received.
