Not how I read it. Defiance isn't the same thing as winning.

OK, fair enough - Defiance. But don't you think 65 years on still banging on about the war is a bit odd?

Depends on the context - not forgetting is important; one way to try and make sure it doesn't happen again. Banging on about it 'cause it's the only thing we've ever won, however ...
