Re: Stopovers UK to Sydney
hi we flew to Sydney last week with a 2 and 6 yr old.We flew London to LA with United for 5 days took in disney land and Universal great for kids. Also meant we got bigger luggage allowance we had 8 cases at 23 kilos each, 4 bits of hand luggage, a lap top, car seat and pram!!
Other benefit with US flights is your child can sit in thier cars eat on the plane, which my son did, and he slept really well as it was familar to him.
Then we flew from LA to Sydney again with United on a night flight.as we had just flown with them they upgraded us to economy plus for no extra charge (didn't even have to ask!!) so had 5 extra inches of legroom as well.
No complaints about United, they were great, have flown with BA and Virgin and they were rubbish next to United!!!
four tickets cost us £2800 with travel planners so not much more than going the other way, plus the extra baggage!!!
Hope that helps

Hi
We are going to Dubai, Hong Kong, Bangkok (cambodia), Bangkok, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth!!!!
Our multi stop ticket was just as cheap as a one way to perth!!!!
Purchased via www.roundtheworldflights.com. Emirates.
I also know Air NZ were doing some good deals on multi city too!!!

yes thats right we had 46 kgs x 4 so in total 196 kgs, plus lap top bag and 4 hand luggage bags packed full !!!
Car seat we used was normal maxi cosi car seat- forward facing for child over 9 mths.Apparently on american flights they let you sit your child in their seat to fly as long as its american approved....................no body asked me if mine was or wasn't!!!!

Re: Stopovers UK to Sydney
Oneworld.com have an excellent round the world ticket planner and for not much money I came up with
Moscow - London
London - Toronto
Toronto - Jamaica
Jamaica - Houston
Houston - Hawaii
Hawaii - Tokyo
Tokyo - Singapore
Singapore - Perth
Perth - Melbourne
Melbourne - Brisbane
Brisbane - Sydney
and with the bonus that the ticket has a return to the UK/Russia option still available for the 12 months the ticket is valid should it be needed.
True the above is quite a trip, but there are not many times in life I will get the chance to do it!
Star Alliance offer similar, and in fact the connections worked out a little better, but it cost more. The virgin/singapore/Air NZ offer is pretty good too if you dont want to make quite so many stops.
