Default STNI visa

Awaiting response from DIMIA as to our application. We understand that we will have to enter Australia to validate our visa's. Is it true that once we have had them validated we have a further 5 years to enter the country for good?
We have applied for STNI and have been accepted by Vicroria.

- The 5 years counts from the date of grant, not validation
- to avoid risks to your PR and keep your lives (in visa terms) simple you need to live in Australia for 2 years in the 5 years for RRV or citizenship purposes (so do the maths, you need to be moved within three years)
- Victoria expects STNI applicants to live in the state for 2 years and they may not be happy if you stay too long in the UK.
