Default Stni - Does The Job Have To = The Asco Code

Dear All

Just a quick question. If you gain a visa via STNI do you have to work in the profession / asco code job under which you obtained the STNI and if you can`t find a job in that field in the initial 2 years does that mean you have to leave

Cheers

Mick

Nope - as far as I know you're free to do whatever you want as long as you reside within the sponsoring state for the initial 2 years.

I wonder if there are any vacancies for beach bum in SA?

Hi,

I asked the exact same question to the SA Government and here is their answer:

"If you are nominated under the STNI scheme, it is
our expectation that you would be working in that occupation, as it is an
occupation that is in shortage. The STNI scheme aims to bring migrants with
skills to fill skills needs in our State. However, you may work in a
related or some other skilled occupation."

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Janni

That's exactly the response I would have expected. Of course they'll say that because that's why they nominated you in the first place...BUT as far as I know it's not an obligation.

I'm not sure what I'll be doing yet - though it'll probably be the same kind of stuff.
