It was reported that the Stingray struck him and pierced a hole in his heart, immediately giving him a massive heart attack, so hopefully it was too quick for him to suffer.

I still can't comprehend he's gone :(

We go to a beach south of Margaret River called Hamelin Bay & Stingrays come right up to the edge of the surf, literally in a few inches of water, right next to you. It's an awesome experience. They are beautiful creatures & actually quite friendly. I knew they were dangerous but not that deadly.

This is very sad news. His TV shows probably did as much to get me through grad school as anybody I actually knew in person. :(

Re: Steve Irwin has died

I just got back online.
My internet was down when I got in from work.

I heard the news breaking about mid morning on the radio.
Initially it said that he’d just been involved in an accident, then about 30 mins later they said that he’d died.

He was one of those people that you really liked or you really didn’t.
I always liked him.

I just watched the re-run of his interview with Andrew Denton on Enough Rope.
He came across as a really nice bloke who was just naturally, “full on” all the time.

Australia has lost a bloody good bloke today.:(

RIP Steve.

I'm lost for words....

On one occasion Leno asked Irwin to show how the sex of a crocodile could be ascertained. "I put my finger in here and if it smiles, it's a girl," Irwin said. "If it bites me, it's a boy."
RIP.

So so sad. Thought he was a wonderful positive guy who I loved to watch on TV, was really looking forward to seeing him when I visit Australia Zoo. Why do the good always die young?

Thoughts and love to his family.
