Steak n' petrol

Re: Steak n' petrol
Stuff that I find really expensive here is hardware (DIY not PC). Things like electrical fittings, screws, fittings, shelf brackets, piping etc. I was pricing up some shelf brackets the other day in Bunnings. The ones that I wanted were $4 each, and I needed 12 - so $48. It pissed me off to see the same thing on the Screwfix website for 80p each. The price of electrical fittings is insane but I am fortunate to have contacts in the trade who can get me stuff for below trade price.

It was great
Kites were seen, bought and flown ... German Sausages were consumed with nary a thought for the expense or, indeed, the war.
Lots of free stuff too ... balloons, Sizzler snacks, wine tasting, aerobatic display, skydivers.
It's on tomorrow as well so I'd recommend anyone in the Redcliffe area to wander along ...

I just can't get over how expensive chocolate is here. If I had known in advance, it could have been a deal breaker!

Maybe it's "hardened for australian conditions"
Have just been looking for a stand to put my laptop on. Ikea have something that will do the job (Dave laptop stand), prices are...
- USA - A$20 (US$18)
- UK - A$28(GBP17)
- AU (VIC/NSW/QLD) - A$50
- AU (WA/SA) - A$60
Maybe it's "hardened for australian conditions"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Mac_Index
does a comparison of all countries selling the big mac to work out the differences in value
http://www.oanda.com/currency/big-mac-index
Australia is 8% overvalued
UK is 7% under
Euro is 15% over
Seems UK is cheaper for this too!

'Bloody expensive place to live is Ozstralia'
Wish now I bought both our cars over.
Price of cars are shocking.
A friend of mine bought his over and only cost him grand to do it(pounds).
I left a Polo and diesel Passat back home in the UK, they would be worth a hell of a lot more over here too.
Would of saved myself $20/25k dollars buying the two here.
But Oz is has its pluses, but not so many for us at the moment.
