Default staying in Newstead, Brisbane..will we need a to rent a car?

hi all, need to pick some brains... will be staying at the Manhattan on Newstead apartments in Newstead, Brisbane for just a week at the end of June..i know it is near the CBD but not sure if we will still need to rent a car for this week just to see the sights etc. we are not house rental hunting in this week just want to spend it doing the touristy stuff round brisbane. any ideas of the transport links for this area and restaurants, shop etc...any ideas of where to go and what to see welcome. selina x

Taxis and the ferries will get you around most places. They will work out cheaper and you won't have all the hassle of parking (or put up with the traffic). The trains are OK as well.

you would need a car if you want to venture outside the city.

we got around Brisbane city OK without a car.

What about doing scouts around suburbs? I guess a car is a must.

Yes I would think so although we used to use the train into the city from where our son lived.

The OP was asking about the 'touristy' bits which would be accessible by public transport. Looking round the suburbs would need your own car.

Perhaps one of the residents could inform us better.
