Default State Sponsorship

I know everything is a waiting game. But I'm just checking that we are doing it right. I went on the Victoria government site, it says if you wish to apply for sponsorship email them your resume. So we did. We got a confirmation email saying they received it, and now nothing. How do you know if they are going to sponsor you. Do they send emails, letters what? And if they are not going to sponsor you, do you just never hear from them. Anyone that has gone through the system, can you let me know if I'm going it right. I have read some threads, where people say they filled in the application form and sent it to them. Is this once they have said they will sponsor you?

Thanks

Dear Confused,

I don't know if it's the same for different areas but we are being processed under the STNI scheme with SA.

First we got a confirmation e-mail saying they had received my husband's resume, then we waited and they e-mailed us a list of about 20 questions which we returned.

After about 4 weeks we got confirmation that our app had been accepted and then about 3 weeks later it was signed off with DIMIA.

Then it is just a case of waiting - like everyone else.

Hope this helps

Shelly

I have applied for State Sponsorship in Victoria, and this is what
happened in my case. Once you send them your resume, they will review
it to see if you have any of the skills on their "Skills in Demand"
list. If you do, they will send you a preliminary analysis letter via
email indicating that you appear to have the experience and skills
they are looking for, which will include all of the documents you need
to review such as the agreement to settle and live in Victoria for two
years, and an application for State Nomination. They will give you 30
days to return the application which is presented to their sponsorship
committee. I have submitted my application and should hear in about
6 weeks if they decide to nominate me or not.

Hope this helps....

After expressing my interest in the STNI scheme for Victoria, they
replied with various documents (as attachments) one of which was their
current skills in demand list. Go to the website and use the "Contact
SMU" link expressing interest in their STNI scheme. Once you get a
dialog going with them, they will request and send necessary
documents. They will only send you an application for nomination if
you have an adequate number of years experience and an "in demand
skill". If you don't meet these two conditions, they will not send you
an application therefore you cannot apply under this scheme.

If you are nominated they will expedite processing of your application
with DIMIA, and you will receive a permanent resident visa.

Let me know how it goes.
