State Lines
Does anyone know who drew up the state lines, and why they are all straight except for the NSW ones Who decided to put a wiggle on the end of the NSW/Queensland? Was there arguments and Mungindi and Byron Bay insist on being in NSW - Just an idle thought.

Re: State Lines
some of the the straight ones run along the lines of longitude and latitude - e.g. between NT & QLD, and SA & NT.
NSW/Vic runs along the Murray
edit cos actually all the straight ones are along lat/longitude

think it follows some river systems and also weaves around the border ranges.... desperatley trying to remember what my teachers told me in primary school...... otherwise is a was a fairly straight carving up of the greater state of NSW.... that is the NSW/Qld border...

Re: State Lines
They say there's a railway line across Siberia that has a kink in it for no apparent reason. The legend has it that Stalin drew the line across the map and the ruler had a dent in it. No-one was brave enough to question the line, so the railway made a detour.
Sounds like piffle to me - but entertaining piffle .
