Default state/gov sponsored migration

My hubby & I are trying to decide whether to apply for General skilled migration with family sponsorship or gov/state sponsored regional visa. Our prelim points were 140 and we're trying to weigh up the pros and cons of both routes in. We are currently working in the USA (we're both brits) and may have to up sticks and move real quick like in the next few months as our visas are due to expire and at best, we'll only get a 2 year extension. We would love any feedback from anyone on this matter, especially those who have been placed in low development areas and their opinion on how they think it's going.
