Default Starting a Business, Question.

Anybody know if this is possible:

I have a friend who now has PR for Aus and lives here for about 5 months of the year, he still owns a business in the UK so to avoid any tax complications he doesn't involve himself in work related activities whilst in Australia.
If he was to sell the UK business to a colleague and sell/move all his assets to Australia and physically move here permanently could he start up a business here to do the following:
Basically buy product from the far east (that is currently manufactured for the original UK company) never receipt it into Australia and ship it directly to the UK (as it is at the moment) but invoice the UK company from the new Australian one, so just really add another link in the chain and act as a sort of middle man.

Any thoughts appreciated,
Cheers
Steve
