Default Starting a business

Can anyone help in a small mater of advice?
I have been in the Decorating trade here in the Uk for 22 years, 10 of which I have been running my own successful company. I have no formal qualifications as I began life on a Youth trainig scheme which does not involve college and the like. We are thinking of returning to Australia (Melbourne) as my wife is Australian. I have heard that without formal qualifications in Australia and to Australian standard, I have no chance of starting my own business there. Good idea to keep the cowboys away but a major stumbling block for me. Has anyone any experience in this matter or similar.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated
Thanx

You might be better posting this to the immigration forum as I'm sure I read something similar there...
