Question Stamp duty and first time buyer grant

Hi Guys,
Me and my wife have been in Australia about 7 weeks and have permanent residents visas as skilled migrants. Just wondering if any of you guys can shed a little light on if we will qualify for the $7k first time buyer grant over here and does it depend on if you previously owned property in the uk? Also, we plan to buy up in Queensland around the Brisbane area spending $400k to $450k, with a 50% deposit and would like to know what level of stamp duty concession we would be eligible for (if any)?

cheers for your help guys, this forum has stopped me scratchin my bonse loadsa times!!!

No, it's not linked to anything in UK so you should get it

Hello,

Here is a stamp duty calculator.
http://moneymanager.smh.com.au/tools...stampduty.html

You can find others using Google http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=e...cr%3DcountryAU

The FHOG is available to people who have not owned a property in Aus before. So as Bix said there's no problem with UK properties. It is also worth checking if your chosen state offers any discount or additional grant.

Regards
