Sponsorship for Permanent Visa
 

I am in Aus on a 457 at present and my employer is willing to sponsor me for a permanent residence.

How hard is this to get? My employer is a small specialist training and consultancy company with about 14 employers over half are on temporary visas. The experience and qualifications required are still extremely rare here in Aus.

They won't pay for a migration agent and I can't afford one - is it possible to do this without one?

Any advice is greatly appreciated - have read everything there is on filling out the nomination and the 47ES but still have no idea how difficult it is to achieve.

Hi, I'm sorry I can't help you with the question you ask, but I'm interested that training & development experience is rare. Is it very specialised field you are in. Where abouts are you based.

I'm interested in coming over as a self employed training consultant. What sort of qualifications are expected and what opportunities do you think there are?

You advice would be useful to see whether this is realistic.

Hi Dawnie,

Every year I see about a dozen failed home made ENS applications. The areas
where people seem to fail are:

-not being aware of the education and work experience requirements, or if
so, thinking they are of "exceptional" talent;
-not undertaking adequate labour market testing;
-not understanding the DEWRSB letter about proving the labour market issues
(skills, salary level, LMT, training policy)

Tell your employer that not employing a migration agent is very much a false
economy. Insist on quality :-)

Now this may be a long shot, but in your situation, it's definitely worth a follow-up ... I believe there is a company called GNC (Geoffrey Nathan Consulting) who offer Sponsorship "co-ordination" to companies (not individuals), FREE OF CHARGE! So it's worth asking your employer to give them a call. They're based @ 23 Hunter St and tel no. 9235 3598. Let me know if this leads to anything positive - and good luck :)

Have you suggested a deal with your employer where they would pay all
or part of the costs of getting a PR visa, and you would agree to
refund them the cost if you left their employment within 2 or so
years?

Hi,
Of course It is possible to do it without an agent. My company/boss sponsored me for PR. I can't tell you the exact forms which the company filled in, but I did the other half which was meant for me.

What he did, he personally went to the immigration office in Sydney, and picked up the forms.
It was all done without any migrant agencies.
