Has anyone gone down this route ?

It is a visa where an established business can sponsor a person who has a trade on the MODL (Migration Occupations in Demand List). However, I know there are some drawbacks.

I have been offered a sponsorship in Queensland as a Hairdresser, but I believe you MUST work for that employer for a minimum of 3 years which is very dodgy if you have a dispute. What happens if you really hate the place you are working, is there any 'get out of jail card' or do they ship you straight back home again even if you have worked for say 18 months.

It is very tempting as the visa is granted within 4 months compared to the year wait for the Skilled Ind Visa.

I'd like to hear from anyone who has been sponsored and how it has worked out for them.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Molly

I can't help with your question but have a question (if you don't mind).

Where / how did you find the job as I am considering this route but in construction.

Thanks

Simon

Hi,

Found this job offer through a friend in QLD.

To be sponsored your job must be on the MODL otherwise they won't give visa. Not many employers do it as it costs them money to do so - guess they just need Hairdressers in Oz.

You could always email a few construction companies and see what they say.

Good luck.
