Default sponsering parents to reside in Australia

Hi.....can anyone help? We are permanent residents in Australia, my parents would like to immigrate.....Are we able to sponser them and if so, what type of visa would they be entitled? .......and does anyone know the process? Many thanks! Loubie

You'd be better off posting this question in the immigration forum rather than there.

Do they meet the 'balance of family' test?

yes and they both have professions on the skills shortage......but they are in their 50,s,......would they be too old to get PR?

If they pass the balance of family test they can get PR under the 'Contributory parent visa' but you will need to be resident for 2 years to sponsor them and have tax returns and a minimum income to act as assurer.

That will give them full work and medicare rights.

The Fees for this visa are relatively high as effectively they will be 'buying into the system'.

They will also need to pass the medical and meet character requirements.
