Speeding fines in Victoria...

Speeding fines in Victoria...
Oh dear.... as the song goes, I was "driving along in my automobile" when all of a sudden a flash of light and 2 weeks later a speeding fine for doing 110 on a 100 freeway - oh how bad of me to be doing 68mph rather than 62mph .
Anyway I'm trying to find out what happens next. Apparently I have to pay an astonishing $215 and I also get 3 points - but I've got a UK driver's licence so surely they can't add points to that? Also, they don't ask for me to send in my driver's licence... so not sure. Finally, someone told me that if it's a first offence then I can apologise and ask to be let off detention...?
Anyone have any experience of this please? Oh...and I promise I won't do it again officer...

My husband spends a lot of time on the road & during his time on our 4 year visa we stayed on our UK licences. You will not incur the points as the Vic Police cannot put penalties on a UK licence but I'm afraid you're stuck with the fine.
If it's your first offence though, it might be worth appealing as my hubby got off with his first speeding fine......I reckon it's worth a shot!
Good luck

I'm not sure of the site that you need to go to but my sister inlaw managed to get their fine paid back and had the points taken off the Oz license. Apparently this only applies in Victoria for a first offence. I will try and find out more if you are interested.

Re: Speeding fines in Victoria...
In NSW, no amount of first offencing or a grovelling letter got me off the hook.
I paid up.
No points were deducted as I handed over my Pommy licence and kept my WA truck licence in my wallet.
I do now have a Victorian Truck license so am more careful.
