Cool Specialist Public health Nursing/ Health Visitors

Hello,
I am a Registered nurse- mental health. i am currently on the SCPHN course- health visiting. Is there anything similar in Oz? who surveils their children until they start school and whilst they're in school? As I'm just doing the course now, I would love to migrate and continue in that line of work, I don't think i am keen to go back to mental health work. Does anyone have any info that would be useful or guide me in the right direction. I just want to be in the sunshine and have a better quality of life for my family. Thanks

Don't be fooled by the TV programmes, Aus has plenty of wind and rain (and hail as Brisbane's residents can tell you this week!) and also has all the same problems as the UK .........

Have a read of www.immi.gov.au for visas you qualify for while waiting for the nurses & health peeps on here to come along

Hi I have a friend over in Queensland who was a band 7 Health Visitor in the UK. She took a job working in a school with the children. However, I have given you and link from NSW health site just to show you the kind of work you could be expecting to find or look for http://nswhealth.erecruit.com.au/Vie...aspx?id=107263

hope this helps.

Thank you, Pollyanna,
I must say, I do not have rose tinted glasses on about moving to another country, i have done the move before(from one country to another), however, i am concerned about job prospects. when i initially made feelers, jobs in mental health were there to be had, i was offered a few interviews, but because i was starting this new course, i didn't want to commit, and to be honest, i was a little sick of mental health services in the UK, so presently, I don't think i want to be forced to take a mental health job, when what i want to do is work with bubbas etc. I have got quite a lot of info on visas and sponsorship, i just wanted to find out about the structure of childrens' services in the different states. Here in the UK, when i complete this course, i will be doubly registered, first a mental health nurse and then on the Specialist Public Health bit with prescribing qualifications as well.
