Southbank Melbourne
Hi. Just arrived in Melbourne and considering living in Southbank but concerned there may be a lack of shops to buy fresh produce. Does anyone know if this is a reasonable concern. Not sure if there are any or many supermarkets nearby. Thanks.

Thanks for that, didn't know. Plenty public transport I know but Vic Market is a 30 min walk from Southbank. I wondered if there were any local shops.

We've just moved out of City Road so very familiar with the area. There is a big Safeway by South Melbourne market, as well as an Aldi and Dan Murphy's (big bottle shop). There is a Coles in Port Melbourne straight down City Road on the way to the beach. The IGA on Sturt Street is open until midnight and there is now a pretty good little supermarket on City Road just down from Power St. It's a great area for food shops and close to all transport options. Oh, and the Thai/Asian fast food place next to the Sushi place in South Melbourne market food hall has the best samosas we've ever tasted.
