Default South Perth HELP/Advice needed.

Hi all
Wanted any advice on living in the south of perth.
Fancy Mandurah!!!! has anyone got any realistic advice on it?
Is it a small town?
what is there to do?
Will i feel claustraphobic aftre few years or is it growing and expanding all time?
Is there supermarket there? Cinema? Catholic church?
Or where else in south perth is great place to live?
Any advice grateful
Thanks

Hi KTD,

Just come back from our recce, and we visited Mandurah. Looks great, seems plenty going on, property's excellent value, but it is a long way from Perth if you need to commute. I hear a train station is being built soon, this will help. It's definately somewhere we would look closer at when we get over there.

Did a reckie to Mandurah in August. It's a tourist town but definitely not dead in winter. Got a great cinema on the waterfront and loads of restaurants and shops.Halls Head is fab and right on the beach. Not too sure about a catholic chruch but there are churches around although not as many as we found in Adelaide !!. It's got a number of supermarkets and a shopping centre although there is a bigger one at Rockingham. We also liked Silver Sands, San Remo and Meadow Springs. A lot of new builds happening but Halls Head has some lovely older homes right on the beach. Depends on what you're after. Must admit that we didn't find the distance from Perth too bad and the rail link will be finished in 2005.

Would it be one on your list for a final settlement destination?

Most definitely. The only thing that would make us look elsewhere is house prices. Although prices in that area are reasonable, I want to give up work and we can get more for our money by moving further out of Perth, but if the finances were right I'd be there - loved it.
