Default SOS, Assistance Needed

I land in Perth in 2 weeks having secured my permanent visa. Since I got the visa I have discovered that there isn't much support from the Oz authorities regards info on assistance on arrival (accomodation, work, etc etc), unlike the UK where all immigrants get everything on a plate.Does anyone know of any organisations or bodies that can be contacted on arrival to offer advice and/or assistance ?
Cheers,
Kev

Don't think there's been much like that since the days of the ten pound poms. Plenty of commerical organisations who'll help you out for a fee though.

Hey

Before yoou kmnow it you will be an aussie!! As far as work goes - get in touch with a recruitment agency and get them to find you work. Message me if you would like the name of some. Or else try www.mycareer.com.au
Get your travel agent to book a hotel for the first couple of nights or go to a backpackers. Most of all, have a beer!

Best of luck

I think you will find they are asylum seekers rather than immigrants.

Yes they did. They said Perth. Put your glasses on for crying out loud!!

Sorry, the stress of this single parenting thing is grating on me. The kids came home from school a few minutes ago and I had to greet them!

Blame Julia, she made me go to the pub after you left Anyway, the OP is probably escaping all the freebies the 'immigrants' get in the UK, so don't know why they expect it here

It's only been 3 hours since your hubby left, I hate to think what you'll be like next week

You could always find an internet forum full of expats or something who might be able to offer you advice on any questions you had. Dunno if one exists though

Thanks for your help everyone. I suppose the trick is to just go, land, and head for a pub.
