Default sorry - recommended shipping company request!

Hi, sorry for posting this question, but I cannot seem to find anything particularly useful when I search.

I need a shipper from Cambridgeshire to Sydney, to come and take stuff ASAP. We have around 1/2 a house of stuff to take as I am farming the other bits to family etc..

The only company I can find on the forum is Anglo Pacific - and that was a big warning against them.

If you have a link to a thread, or any new suggestions that would be great.

Recently shipped contents of a two bed flat from London to Sydney. I requested two companies to come and give quotes, John Mason and PSS (website: http://www.pss.uk.com/). I felt it quite important to get a rep to review my stuff and give a quote. But, both were very similar, very professional and very pleasant.

Plumped for PSS in the end as slightly cheaper quote.

I can only speak for the packing and shipping end, as stuff due to arrive in c.8 weeks, but they were very careful with everything, very speedy (4 hours and one empty flat!!) and nice guys. Also, office staff have been really helpful - would recommend PSS.

Good luck,
Ff

Hi

Just had John Masons (the container left on Thursday). Their office staff are friendly and helpful and were the only ones to suggest a quicker ship to accomodate our situation - couldn't believe it was only £80 extra (which they incorporated into our negotiations) and the ship will get our stuff there in one calendar month.

One point though if someone's advised you you'll need the reefer (larger 20ft) or highcube (larger 40ft) make sure you get it in writing that that's what they're sending.

I thought I'd agreed it with them but I'd talked to a few companies so could have been wrong - only had to leave a few bits I can easily live without but would have been nice if everything had gone.

Anyway the packers worked really hard and were nice guys so happy so far.

Hi Steve,

We used a company called white and company,www.whiteandcompany.co.uk and were very happy with them.A friend of mine who moved to Perth has also used them and was happy with them.
They were very professional with the packing and all our stuff arrived after 9 weeks with nothing broken.
We only had to give them two weeks notice to book them, so maybe look at their website to see if they are in your area.

Hope everything goes well with your move.

Julie.

we had quotes from Anglo Pacific; Interdean Interconex; Constantine and Crown Relocations. We plumped for Crown and haggled a bit on price and extra storage time F.O.C. All vying for your business. Crown were extremely professional and even brought along special boxes and jigsaws for the kids to put their stuff in. They have their own offices and storage centres all over the world and don't rely on outside contractors at the other side...making it easier if you have any problems...good luck

hi

We had quotes from PSS, Dorree Bonner, Pickfords, John Mason and Bishops Move.

We have decided to go with Bishops Move. The service receied has been unbelievable. The rep was very helpful and informative. We have been having major hassles with our move and have had to change the date 6 times, due to a very unstable buyer down the chain. That chain then broke down and we now have another buyer.

Through all of this, Bishops have been brilliant. They have changed dates at the drop of a hat, they have excellent communication and I just cannot recommend them highly enough.

The person I am dealing with is Nick Moorby, who's tel no is 07976 252442. He may not cover your area, but will certainly put you in touch with the correct person.

Just for in case you're wondering, I am not receiving any commission from this. Just extremely happy with such brilliant service.

Hi All
Now we have our visa's and are looking at removals ect one thing i have been thinking about is paying them. When do you have to pay the removal firm, problem is this visa lark as taken up all our spare money now so we are skint, all our money is in our property, Do they realise that some people will only be able to pay them when they get the money for the house, so can you pay as soon as you get the money for the house or do they want the money the same day they take your stuff away ? this is working on them taking everything say one week before you get the money for the house. Do this make sense ???

Same happened to us Donna - we were also skint and our shippers, Crown, had packed our stuff up 2 days before our move out date - by the time you get the cheque from the solicitors and put it in the bank to clear you are looking at a week to getting your house sale money. I phoned Crown and they agreed to let us pay the balance once we had this money - in the end my bank gave me a loan within 48 hours which we paid off a week later - I decided this might be easier even though Crown said it was ok - that may of been because Crown were storing our stuff free for 6 weeks - if you were wanting them to ship right away they might want payment 1st. Just phone your shipper and ask - they will be used to that - not everyone has £3500 lying around!
