Default Sorry, but another PC Question..

Hi Guys

I Know this has been probably been asked before but....

Is anyone over in Oz been/ is using a Vodafone 3G/GPRS data card for their laptops, to go on the internet and also receive and send emails. As we are thinking of buying a laptop before we go over to Oz, while our PC will be in transit, but before we purchased one, we just wanted to know that it works ok out there.

Sorry for all the questions, but also, what kind of land lines do they use (ADSL
OR DSL Cable) out in Oz as I need to know for a wireless router for the PC and laptop

Thanx, any help will be very much appreciated

Since both are available, Aussies use DSL or ADSL, depending on which one they want.

Hi missy bricky

If you buy a laptop with built in wireless, the latest are compatible with all the latest broadband connections.

If you get a broadband connection in Oz, I assume that the provider you choose will offer a free or cheap router for your connection. Most of these modems also also have a cable network connection, so you could also connect the PC using the network cable.

Any changes you might need to make regarding connections will cost very little to implement (if needed at all)

With regards to 3G/GPRS connections, I can't help but i'm sure somebody out there can.

hope this helps

I bought one (well actually 2 as I messed up with my ebay bidding - pm me if you want to buy it) for use when we first arrive in Oz and get sorted with internet connection.

If I get there before you I'll let you know how it works
