Sorry - boring baggage question
Sure that I have seen a number of comments/queries on this but here goes.
When booking our flights Travelbag told me that because we were stopping over in Singapore for a couple of nights that we would not get the double baggage allowance. Not one to be detered I thought that I would e-mail Singapore Airlines directly and see what they said. They have told me that I am eligible for the double allowance, even though we are stopping over - which is good. However they also said that we only have to turn up at the airport with our unused visas and we will be able to get the allowance and this seems a bit dodgy to me - thought we would have needed a letter at least.
Anyone had experiences of this - I can see a stand off between me and a jobs worth check in desk operative, which would not be a good start.

Every single thread about this has said GET A LETTER to be sure!!!
I wouldn't wait til you got there to be told no - that is one heck of an excess baggage charge! If SA have said that is the case they shouldn't have any problem sending you an email confirming the fact.

Definitely get a letter or an e-mail; than get hold of the airline reps/customer service for the airline at the airport you are flying from, and ask them to check the PNR for your reservation.
The PNR is the stuff the check-in agent sees on their screen (to put it in plain terms!), and that is what they have to work on. So if the airline have definitely said you can have 40kgs, it will be on your PNR. If it isn't, the check-in staff can use their discretion, but thats not a good route to go down on spec!
