Default Sony Bravio TV - problems getting it set up!?

Our furniture and stuff arrived today, woo hoo, unfortunately the Sony Bravio which is about 5 years old isn't working properly. We have Mystar (the Aussie equivalent of Sky+ and it has the local channels transmitted through it, but the TV has only one antenna socket but the Mystar has two leads which need to go into the tele. So the OH popped out and bought an adapter to let the TV take these two leads, but it still won't work. So in short all of the satellite channels are working but not the terrestrial/local channels, can anyone suggest what we're doing wrong as LOST is on tonight lol

Thanks folks

To get the local TV you need to get a digi box and that will give you 7, 9, 10 and a few others.

That's what we had to do with ours. No matter how you try to tune it in, it won't work without the Aussie digibox. Costs about $120.

We have to have foxtel and a digi box. Such a pain!

That's such a pain in the ass, we got Mystar so we could record the likes of LOST and all of the other decent programmes which are only on the local channels, ARGHHHHH there has to be a way around it surely!?

Can you not fashion a makeshift additional cable input out of your ball-shaped washing powder dispenser? OK, it might not offer a permanent solution, but it would allow you to watch Lost this evening . . .

there should only be one rf cable going to your tv from the mystar box, at the back of the box you have a socket for the antenna in and one out to the tv.

look at this link it may help you. click on connecting mystar.

No joy, we just plugged back in the TV we'd had in the hirepack and now IT doesn't work either, any suggestions anyone? It's just the local (and most important) channels we can't get and we're baffled?!

Have you tried setting the tv to the different area, our telly that we brought over 5 years ago was already 3 years old and an old style big heavy one we could not get tunned in and had top box. It need to go in for repair (and we still manged to get it done on the 5 year warranty) and when it came back teh shop had programmed them in. So on a newer type should be able. Try googling manual if you have lost yours.

You don't connect the Mystar to the TV via the antenna socket, in fact you don't even need to use the antenna socket at all unless you are planning on hooking up an external antenna to the TV's internal tuner. You would use a HDMI cable, SCART or Composite cables (yellow-video, red & white - audio L & R) to connect the Mystar box to the TV.

The terrestrial and the digital coaxes are coming off the same antenna into the back of the mystar box then both coaxes come out of the box and into the only TV antenna socket via a splitter box that we've bought. < Simon just dictated that to me and I wrote it, I have no idea what it means

Have you got the Mystar SD or Mystar HD? You don't need the coaxs going to the TV from the Mystar box. The coax is only for signal input to the box.

The back panel of the Mystar SD box has S-Video out and composite (yellow, red and white) outputs. These are the ones you would use to connect to the TV.

The Mystar HD box should have all the outs of the SD box with the addition of HDMI and component out. You would use these for HD content to the TV.
