Somewhere over the rainbow - Eva Cassidy A Whole new world (Aladdin Soundtrack) Serious mood for a moment - I intend to spend the rest of my life in Australia and as a result I care about the way in which parts of it are being ruined without any apparent thought for the future - if you get a chance listen to this song. the first time I heard it I laughed but the second time it hit home a bit. That's it. I promise not to be serious again for a while. Cheers Perry |

Definitely "Highway to Hell" by AC/DC
Living easy, living free Season ticket on a one-way ride Asking nothing, leave me be Taking everything in my stride Don't need reason, don't need rhyme Ain't nothing I would rather do Going down, party time My friends are gonna be there too I'm on the highway to hell No stop signs, speed limit Nobody's gonna slow me down Like a wheel, gonna spin it Nobody's gonna mess me round Hey Satan, paid my dues Playing in a rocking band Hey Momma, look at me I'm on my way to the promised land |

Here's one for you would-be Aussies:
Down Under Traveling in a fried-out combie On a hippie trail, head full of zombie I met a strange lady, she made me nervous She took me in and gave me breakfast And she said, "Do you come from a land down under? Where women glow and men plunder? Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder? You better run, you better take cover." Buying bread from a man in Brussels He was six foot four and full of muscles I said, "Do you speak-a my language?" He just smiled and gave me a vegemite sandwich And he said, "I come from a land down under Where beer does flow and men chunder Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder? You better run, you better take cover." Lying in a den in Bombay With a slack jaw, and not much to say I said to the man, "Are you trying to tempt me Because I come from the land of plenty?" And he said, "Oh! Do you come from a land down under? (oh yeah yeah) Where women glow and men plunder? Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder? You better run, you better take cover." |

Love this song from Ilse de Lange,a dutch artist
Flying Solo 'Cross the Bering strait to a foreign land I took to the sky just like I planned Left my old life behind there in the ice and snow followed a rainbow to Mexico Somewhere this side of lucky just shy of goin' down there's a pilot with her wings on fire and she doesn't even notice, she got magic on her mind 'cause she's flyin' solo for the first time chorus: Flying solo like an angel in the night flyin' solo across the great devide I've been down so low, now I'm up so high there ain't nothin' short of dying is gonna make me change my mind flyin' solo, flyin' solo Like a fallin' leaf I fell down from your tree chalk one up to prosperity in search of warmer waters I'm like a bird gone south don't know just what I'll find but I'm finding out Now here I'm dancin' with the moon spinning out of control never be the same agian 'cause there's a place under the horizon where it hardly ever rains the sun is always shining freedom is it's name (chorus) Around the world that's where I'll be Amelia Earheart's got nothin' on me (chorus) |

BOTANY BAY
Farewell to old England for ever, Farewell to my rum culls as well, Farewell to the well-known old Bailey Where I once used to cut such a swell. Chorus: Singing Too-ral li-ooral-li ad-dity, Singing Too-ral li-ooral-li-ay, Singing Too-ral li-ooral-li ad-dity And we’re bound for Botany Bay. There’s the Captain and I’m your Commander, I’m the bo’sun and we’re the ship’s crew, There’s the first and the second class passengers, Knows what we poor convicts go through. Ain’t leaving old England we cares about Ain’t cause we mis-spells what we knows But because all we light-fingered gentry Hops around with a log on our toes Oh, had I the wings of a turtle-dove! I’d soar on my pinions so high, Slap bang to the arms of my Polly love, And in her sweet bosom I’d die Now, all my young Dookies and Duchesses, Take warning from what I do say Mind all is your own as you touchesses, Or you'll join us in Botany Bay. |
How about that other AC/DC classic "Beating around the Bush"?
Or am I misunderstanding the lyrics ? |
