Its a valid question, each state has its own vaguaries and this place is sooooo huge. I reckon you could find a lovely 'village feel' place in any state you settle as long as you look hard enough. The job and school situation will obviously dictate some of your rationale....have you considered the NSW Cental Coast villages where you could live and then commute to Newcastle for work??

I can't say I was a fan, which is weird because 'twisted' is usually right up my alley.

This bizarrely reminds me that I should check out The Mighty Boosh, another series that passed me by first time around.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
Look up Fremantle. A suburb on Perth Western Australia. We have a large number of Brits living over there. Also Mandurah. Mandurah is a city 1 hour from Perth. Fremantle is the Port. It's part of the city but it has more of an artsy village feel. You don't need a car to get around the central area. Has a real Italian feel cappucchino strip... which is really bustling on the weekends. Very historical. Lost of old restored Heritage buildings. Beautiful marina, beaches, arts and crafts markets. Parks, and English and Irish Pubs. Also lovely stone houses very English style. there is a big hospital there as well.
