Dear Sula
Thanks for the site addresses-nothing suitable so far with the elderly but we'll keep going at it.
Karen ;)

Hi I am a social worker and have just returned to Oz. I have just been offered a job with the child safety team. Make sure you check your quals with AASW. social work in a variety of fields so it shouldn't be to hard to find work.
Good luck Tracy

Hi,
I'm also a social worker, got through the AASW assessment and soon to go for our meds with a STNI (South Australia). If it's of any use social work is one of the professions listed for STNI in SA, so surely that must mean there's a shortage there??! Having said that I'm having a devil of a time finding many jobs advertised on the internet :( Is there any particular web-site that anyone knows of that would regularly feature SW jobs? Or do these not really feature much online anywhere? A friend who went to Melbourne sent his CV/resume to two hospitals and was offered a job in both, and was a senior in 6 months! Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, there doesn't appear to be much similar in Oz, no programmes of care, etc...
All the best,
Shane
PS all my experience is in field-work with children and adults with learning/intellectual disabilities; given that I'm planning to move to a new house in a new suburb in a new city in a new continent while also changing jobs and getting my head around a very different culture I thought I'd try to have a little continuity and try to work with a client group I know and enjoy working with!

Hi Shane,
I have seen a few sw jobs for SA advertised on Career one recently.
CARA is an agency in Adelaide that offers care and support to adults and children with disabilities. They regularly advertise for social workers.

Good luck.
