Default Soccer or Football?

"To be fair, at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter if we get a result" on this one but it's an interesting article:

Well, the FACT I will concede is that Association Football is played with a round ball. What one's opinion is as to the 'best' code of football will always remain a value judgement. The article is not about what is the best but just what to call it - soccer or football.

The way to go might be to call soccer, football and AFL as it has always been - footy.

Just see big guys hit each other during the whole match, the team with more stronger bodies will control the match, even this team is more stupid...that is my only horrible experience about AFL or Rugby. I never dream I can see a star player like Mc Owen in Rugby or AFL, simply because he is physically too "weak".

I admit there are some weired scenarios in the real football match, such as some players like to pretend to be injuried so that they can delay the match.
However, it also proves that the real football will protect players with not-so-strong body (like Mc Owen) in some way. Thus not only strong player, but also smart player can dominate the real football match. That is the reason why the real football game can be the most popular sports in the world.

Is Mc owen some new Scottish player Ive missed.

I check the scores from Premier league every week but just don't get the excitement AFL gives you.

I agree with Oz T that it should be football & footy for the two codes.
