So what's happening about the cleanfeed?

Is it sill happening?

Is Cassandra Hutch still wandering the streets with a sandwich board?

Was I naive to suggest that Australian democracy is any different to the flawed democracy (Economist) of Thailand?

Do people, who can't protect their kids from radio adverts with rude words, still expect parents to protect their more computer literate offspring from the eye-opening diversity of interests found on the Internet?

Are people still enjoying the free and open Internet of ukopia when the filter allows them access?

Does anyone care any more?

How odd. I clicked on his post, and half the words were missing.

I have absolutely no idea what he's talking about and he's normally so lucid and rational

I'm still waiting for it to come back from the post.

Do you mean Senator Conroy's shambolic attempts at censoring the internet?

It has gone decidedly quiet hasn't it? Maybe he's moved his sights on to breaking up Telstra now, and is hoping that the cleanfeed scheme will quietly die in a corner somewhere, in the face of overwhelming evidence that it just wouldn't have worked.

Interestingly enough, I did have a read of this earlier:

Britain presses on with Big Brother telecoms database

I wonder if Conroy will suggest something like this instead?

I originally looked at moving to Iceland instead of coming here. I'm glad I didn't now - I'm not sure I fancy being branded a terrorist...

Update.....

http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2...15/2772467.htm

The Federal Government has detailed its plan to require internet service providers (ISPs) in Australia to block a list of banned material.

When Parliament resumes next year the Government plans to introduce amendments that will require ISPs to block banned material on overseas servers. ...............
The Government has been trialling the filter since late May and was due to report in July on the outcomes of the trial......
Nine ISPs originally agreed to take part but iiNet pulled out of the trial in March, saying the filter would not work and was a dead parrot.

Oh no, please don't say they are going to block thailadyboys.com ?

It was a foregone conclusion we would have Chinese style censorship as soon as that religious nutter Conjob started the trials. You don't think for one minute they would have started the trial without knowing the outcome do you?

Wonder how long it will take them to censor Climategate out of the picture.

Welcome to Australia, land of the not quite as free as we were.

Yep, we're officially screwed by the God bothering morons. I am staggered that in this country they are going to roll over and be blinded by the drivel spin that the Government is churning out about it stopping Child Porn.

They have already admitted that it won't stop paedophiles, won't stop people accessing this stuff through onion routers and other proxy services and that it will slow down the internet in Australia (just when it starts getting quicker).

I really thought this had died a death. Pathetic.

Start talking to the workplace IT experts about how you can access www.redhotpawn.com because their blockers dont work. Even offer to show them just how easy it is. Their facial expressions are priceless :rofl:

Numerous ISPs in the UK are already filtering internet traffic. The IWF have threatened to name and shame ISPs who allow access to certain content. As such most are falling over themselves to put filtering inplace. No one wants to be associated with the paedophiles.
