Hi all,

After much talk and generally avoiding doing anything about it, my Aussie wife had recently given me the kick up the backside I needed to get this emmigration process underway. Last night was the big one, putting the house up for sale. So yesterday the estate agent came round and seemed only too pleased to sell it for us. After reading another post here, I hope I don't have too much trouble shifting it.

So now I have to deal with the second biggest issue, telling my parents that the house is on the market. They know that we are planning to move to Oz, but I think they have been ignoring it up to now hoping it might go away. This weekend I have to tell them that the final stage has begun, and that in a matter of months we will be gone. It will be the hardest thing I have ever done.

Anyone got any advice on dealing with this?

Mark

Hi Mark
There are no right and wrong ways of telling them, youve just got to go for it and hope that they understand why you are going....etc etc.....they may surprise you with their reaction, and be 100% behind you, but u wont know till you do it. Best of luck

Hi Mark

There is no easy way of telling your parents, whatever reaction you get will be better than bottling it up, the sooner the better, so after this weekend if you tell them it will be like having a weight taken off your shoulders and it will enable you to better focus on whats ahead.

However they feel, most parents will come to realise it is something you want to do and will not stand in your way.

Hope everything goes well - you might be surprised

Good luck
