Hi Jonny....

to cut a long story short, I moved away from Oz when I was 13, and have now (33) a business here in belgium that has got a loan with 2 more year on it, so want it paid off first before we make the move back... would have been 4 more years, but managed to get the missus to agree on 3 yrs , so will be looking at moving back "home" somewhere in 2016..... until then I can continue racing motorbikes, kitesurfing and snowboarding... I only live 6hrs from switzerland, but prefer austria, only 7hrs away on the german highway .... I try to go 3 or 4 times a year, usually Ellmau or zillertal... 3 weekends ( leave friday around 14.00 and drive back sunday around 16.00, so don't need anyone to cover me at work, and 1 week with the missus

Kitesurfing was fairly difficult to start off with, but I did a week coarse first and got the hang of it then, then I baught a kite and board and it's just taken off from there... I'm not the best, but I have a good time and enjoy myself during the summer
When we finally move it'll be sunshine coast or north.... Would love to kitesurf around fraser island, nice and flat, no waves and just pull up to the campfire on fraser, have it all planned out in my mind

when are you thinking of moving?
if possible get a cheap holiday in to eygpt and take a coarse there.. let the missus ( & kids? ) lay by the pool/beach in the morning while you try the kitesurfing, it's usually only 4hrs a day, 5 days, so plenty of you time, and the OH gets soem her time :thumbsup:

It looks like the best option would still be to just link in a trip home at Christmas with a trip to Europe.

After I got past St Anton and found Ischgl I haven't looked back. What a place and so undisturbed by the west.

Sounds good!

Skippi - it's encouraging that despite a very fun sounding lifestyle you still want to return to Aus.
I'm in constant turmoil about wether to leave family (and snowboarding) behind to head out there. I love the outdoors so the lifestyle appeals.
But the distance from everywhere else is concerning.

The distance won't matter when your focus shifts to your immediate surroundings
