Default Snow???

Anyone been to falls creek this season, getting worried, we are due to go down this month and the snow report reads FANTASTIC CONDITIONS - NATURAL SNOW COVER 65 cm Fantastic for what? breaking my bones

Bit of an expensive week if its only that deep, can still cancel, havent paid for flights yet, thoughts anyone.

Never believe the snow reports put out by the resorts. They always say 'fantastic' regardless of the actual conditions. After all, they don't want you to cancel, do they?

Try to get a look at a live Snowcam - or check the weather forecast. The snow situation can change really quickly, if some decent falls arrive between now and when you go.

Snow depths are generally greatest in September:

65CM where? Is that a maximum depth at the top of the mountain, or at the resort level?
If its resort level, thats plenty, most resorts in Austria would generally have anything from 10 - 50cm on their lower slopes for most of the season, 65cm of compacted snow is more than enough.
Whats under the snow in the resorts in OZ, if its grass/mud then you definitely wont have problems, if is more rocky then you could get a few coming through if it thins out.

OK well I know that a few weekends ago it was pretty dire. However there has been fresh snow...9cms I think so average depth is now more like 75cms I think. I also see that Wed and Thurs are decent snowfall days so it might get a good top up at the end of the week.
I think you should be fine.
It will be a case of eyes on the falls creek website I would say. I know a few people heading up this weekend coming so I will post again when they get back. Let you know how it is.
