Default Smoking to be Banned in Victorian Pubs from 1 July 2007

I know that this has been in the pipeline for a while now, but there has been some recent discussion about whether pubs, who cannot provide outside smoking areas, would be able to retain their licences.

Don't partake of the weed myself - so I'm looking forward to enjoying a pint in a smoke free atmosphere.

Pubs in Qld said they would go broke when it was introduced here-what aload of twaddle. After a slow start, patrons came back.

When I go home to Scotland, I can't believe how much lovelier pubs are without fags.

This is good news for me.

Good , the next step is to make smoking illegal, it kills 20,000 Aussies a year
and kills around 100,000 people in the UK per year.

Problem is that all the smokers get the outside tables so they can smoke, making all the non-smokers go indoors to get away from them!
Should be banned anywhere on pub/cafe/restaurant property, indoors or out!

Are they stronger ciggies in the UK

They stopped smoking in pubs here in New Zealand 12+ months ago and its a good thing, just from a smelly clothes point of view.

Me too...I hate it!

I work with lots of smokers and I honestly could tell you which ones smoked well before I ever really knew for sure. It's the receeding gums, yellow teeth, the grey ashen palour and the dry skin that give it away...and then there is the smell!

We could have a field day with this one.

5x the people die in the UK compared with Australia, yet it only has 3x the population.

Where's Vash when you need him.
