slightly dazzed
Well I finally made it to Oz... Sydney to be more specific...
It seems very strange leaving all my family and friends back in the UK, and not knowing anyone out here... so if there are any ex pats up for showing a newbie the decent pubs and night life of sydney... let me know!!!
Cheers,
Keith.

You can't just turn up and say, "I'm here" without telling us all the gory details.

Getting here was the relatively easy bit... The hard bit is making it work now I am here!!!
I applied for skilled migration back in Jan 2002, was approved in Feb 2003... then put my house on the market... that took from Feb till August to sell my house (London housing market problems which I think a few people on this forum have been experiencing), then I finally got here 2 weeks ago but only just got internetted up again this weekend...
Given the argo some of you seem to have gone through, I count myself exceptionally lucky that the visa application bit of the 'journey' was relatively painless for me...
I have managed to find a place to stay (Crows Nest area which seems a fairly nice part of sydney), but still nothing on the job front (I was an IT Manager back in the UK)....
Everything takes time, and I wasnt expecting to just 'hit the ground running' when I got here, but the reality of it all has hit home this weekend when I realised I didnt have any phone numbers in my mobile I could easily call up and drag down to the local for a beverage or two!!!!!
I went into town by myself and ended up sitting in what must have been the quietest pub in Sydney watching a game of Ozzie football and not having a bleeding clue what was going on... although the drunk bar tramp next to me seemed happy that Brisbane won
