Skyworks Perth
Obviously were planning to take the stroppy short person to the fireworks.
Anyone been before and now how it all works, vantage points, food vendors or esky etc? |
My only tip is get there bloody early. Usually by late afternoon, all the good spots are taken.
My fave vantage point is parliament house (above the fountain/waterfall thingies). Bring a picnic, chairs, blankets, pillows, books and boardgames etc and make a day of it. |
for those who arent in the know can you please explain what you are talking about.

Perth skyworks is held on Jan 26th, which is Australia day.
Basically, at night (forget what time), a lof of fireworks are let off from barges from the river and on top of city buildings. We stand there, ooooooing and ahhhhing for a bit. Then when the fireworks are over, people rush to get home :D |
If you live on the south side of the river, I always found South Perth to be quite a good place, as there`s plenty of grass and parking.... but get there early, or even take a bus/train if you can so you don`t have to wait hours to get out in the car.
Take a big blanket or two, one to sit on and one to have for the night (it can sometimes get cold at night with the breeze off the river). Take at least one torch... the biggest one you have. I won`t say too much more about that..... it`ll be a great surprise. If you have a video camera, take it (but keep an eye on it of course). If you want the best sound, take a portable radio, but it`s not essential.... just sit near others who have brought one. Take an esky with sandwiches, drinks etc for lunch and dinner. Take a frisbee or ball or something to play with while you wait for night. Or a book. Kings park is also a good place to see it from, but I`m not sure what it`s like to get out of, as there`s only the one road out.... so I`m assuming it`d be a while. I guess they`re still starting the show with Phil Collins` "In the Air Tonight"? Or have they finally changed it? Wish I could be there to see it. Have fun!!! |
Cheers chaps.
OK Stormz, I've got a 4 D cell maglite. What do I need it for??? I can understand a torch but do I need a baseball bat as well? |
