But it comes with its own answering machine - why would you need a third party one? Incidentally - last month I signed up to their SkypeIn service, where you get a 0207 london number for people to call and I've found it works brilliantly. Going to be very handy when we relocate the business to the other side of the planet.

Yeh, was wanting to find out about skype - what's it all about? What price? Mac compatible? Dial up compatable? Any one used it or know more? Any web sites with info?

Just go to www.skype.com. It tells you everything you need to know. The voice mail service is not a free service, but is useful.

We signed up to Skypein the other week. Its great all our friends and family can call an 0208 london number then connect to us in Melbourne for the cost of an STD call in the UK or local if they are in London. It cost 10euros for 3 months then if it proves a success we will do the 30 euros for 12 months. So far we are impressed and you can get caller waiting (as it has proved such a success we have had more than one call coming through at a time.) Amazing how many more friends call when they are calling a number in the UK than calling to Oz.

The Skype answer machine is free if you have Skypein and it answers your calls whether you are at the PC or away if you fail to answer the call in the set amount of seconds you have set it up for.

No Skypeout is free but Skypein is when you get the overseas number in our case a number in the UK for family and friends to call at a local or national rate depending on their whereabouts. It is 10 euros for 3 months or 30 euros for 12 months.

It is worth it though if people start calling you instead of you always calling them!!

There was a Money Program on BBC2 last Friday about Skype. It also mentioned another telephone service run by another company similar to Skype. Can anyone tell me the name of it ?

Apparently BT are bricking it as Skype and other schemes could put them out of business. They are spending £10 billion on a new network similar to Skype.
