Sky Plus Oz Equivalent?

Hi there,
My apologies if this has been asked before. Is there an Australian equivalent of Sky Plus? I don't mean just a satellite provider, I mean like the Sky+ box and so on where you can record direct from TV and have interactive services?
Thanks in advance.

Good question! I love my sky plus - not necessarily for sky but having the live pause option solves so many issues in our house!!

It is available - but only on cable at the moment. It's called Foxtel IQ and is essentially exactly the same as Sky Plus. They've been threatening to release a similar one for the Austar satellite service but haven't yet - and I suspect they won't now until they roll out hi-deff. :)

Hiya,
When is HD expected to come out there? Is it 2008 or something like that?
Cheers for the answers as well!

There are already HD versions of the terrestrial channels but with limited programming actually being in HD (if that makes sense?) Foxtel are supposed to be launching 2 HD channels next year.

IQ is available for Foxtel satellite not just cable. Whole package approx $110/m, or $99/m + $400 one-off starter. Site; http://www.foxteliq.com.au/

Standard is 120hr HD (yummy), problem is finding something to record!
This is especially since channels 7,9 & 10 are resisting digitalisation through the Foxtel satellite - so you'll still need a video to bypass all those ads - and be prepared to miss the ends of programs, scheduling and time-keeping is shoddy.
