skilled visa with spouse
Hello,
My partner and I are looking to move to Australia..he is looking to get sponsored from the skills list as he is an electrician
I have been trying to find the answer online however I can't find any information..I am looking to go out with them as his spouse, what visa would I be on and would I be able to work out there?
Any help on this would be much appreciated
😀😀😀😀
Thank you
Joanna

Ah thank you so much for the information..also I know when you are doing your permanent residency he can't really leave the country, but even if I worked and was on his visa would I still be able to visit the UK a couple of months a year? Xx

Re: skilled visa with spouse
If he is here on a Permanent Residence visa (eg a 189) he can come andgo as he pleases. He has travel rights for 5 years, after that if he doesn't meet the requirements for citizenship he can get a Resident Return Visa. At no point is there any block on him travelling.
You would be on the same visa and can travel the same as he can.
What visa is he applying for?

Oh really! We have been told before that there would be restrictions on travel out of the country when you are being sponsored for your permanent residency! So a good thing for us if that is not true, so I can work under his visa and leave the country and come back after a months visit home. Thank you for your answerd 😊😊

When you say 'partner' what do you mean? Are you married or been living/in a committed relationship for more than 12 months? May sound silly but some people consider themselves 'partners' when they've been going out for a couple of months.

Yeah I know what you mean, we have been in a committed relationship for 7 years, we have lived together at times but have not moved in together as of yet due to saving. We spent a year in australia back in 2010 on a workING holiday visa.

Then I think you'll have a hard time convincing DIBP that you're spouses. Without living together or being married you're really boyfriend and girlfriend, not partners/spouses.

Agreed. Without living together for the past 12 months, you'll have hard time getting added to his visa as a spouse or a partner as DIBP will see the relationship as boyfriend/girlfriend, not defacto
