Am wanting to apply for Skilled PR Visa as 'IT Professional'. Only qualification to date is MCP in Desktop Applications VB6 (part of MCSD), but got 8 years IT experience.

Anyone out there who has got experience in making an application to the ACS for their assessment of this type of qualification?

Thanks.

2 options.

1. Take the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment with the ACS.
2. If you are British, join the British Computer Society as a professional member.
You will also have to write an essay about your career so far and how what you
have learned makes up for your not having a degree. You may also have to have a
panel interview.

Have you visited the website of the ACS yet? The address is http://www.acs.org.au. There is plenty of info available, and all the application forms can be downloaded. My husband needed an RPL assessment, because although he has worked in IT for the last 15+ years, his degree is in Science. Make sure you send with your application plenty of info to back up your work experience in your chosen field, and make sure it all ties in with your CV. There did seem to be an awful lot of information needed to complete the forms, but it pays to be thorough. My husband sent in his application in September and we were amazed to receive a reply confirming his suitability only 3 weeks later!
