Skilled Sponsored, anyone?

Hi All,

There are a few messages on here from skilled independent migrants regarding which applications Adelaide are up to, and I was wondering where we think they are up to on the skilled sponsored applications. Is it logical to assume they are currently doing September applications as per the independent category, or is it a totally different process?

Would be interested to hear from any sponsored migrants who have had meds requested / visas granted and when they applied.

All the best

Andy

Not all sponsored applications are created equal.

Skilled Australian Sponsored, subclass 138, should normally be processed along the same timescales as skilled independent, subclass 136.

There's about a month added at the end due to the sponsorship paperwork/bond payment.

Skilled Designated Area Sponsored is prioritised, so should be processed within about 4-6 months.

We are the same class as you.

Lodged End July 2003
Granted 8th April 2004 - soooooooooooo happy
:) :) :)

We did do our Meds and police checks unrequested which I think saved us a couple of months.

After the bond was lodged the visa was granted two weeks later.
Consider doing the meds and police checks now. It's a risk but judging by our timescale they will be requested any day now.

The meds may have a waiting list in your area, so you could book them now for say in a months time. Do the police checks now as they cost buggar all in the scheme of things and you keep hold of them, unlike the meds which are usually sent direct.

Good luck and I hope this helps

Hi Andy

Just as you were thinking "where the bloody hell is it"

We applied on October 24th 2003, and were beginning to get itchy when yesterday (23.04.04) our agent told us that THE letter had come for us to go and get our meds/police checks and then the bond to be lodged. All in all this has taken 6 months so far.

We are feeling more positive now!

Good luck with yours. (we are skilled sponsored too!!)
we live in West Yorkshire.

Hi Guys (and all other responders)

Thanks so much for the info. Our App was received 8th December so we are approx 6 weeks behind you I guess.

Good luck with the meds etc. - where you headed?

I used to live in Silsden so know that part of the world well - we are now other side of Leeds near Rothwell.

Good luck - keep us posted on the progress!!
